Tom joined the LGT Venture Philanthropy team (LGT VP) in 2010.
As Investment Director, Tom deploys philanthropic growth capital to organizations and companies with effective, innovative and scalable solutions to social and environmental challenges. In his role he covers the whole live-cycle of philanthropic investments, from sourcing all the way through to exit.
In his previous role as Head of Impact Management at LGT VP and LGT Impact, Tom was leading the impact analysis of new investments/engagements and advised the IC during the decision making process. For LGT Impact and VP portfolio companies, Tom facilitated impact measurement and management projects to build organizational capacities. His work aimed at strengthening systems and processes for improved impact outcomes. Lastly, he was also in charge of the in-house impact management framework that LGT Impact and VP’s global team uses to manage their societal impact.
In his initial role as Director of the LGT Impact Fellowship Program, Tom connected social businesses in need of professional know-how, and experts with the desire to apply their knowledge in a meaningful way.
In 2009, Tom worked for 11 months, full-time as an LGT Impact Fellow with Heart Social Investments, a social enterprise incubator in Cape Town, South Africa. Through this experience, Tom learned first hand about the challenges of social enterprises working with BoP customers.
Before joining the social sector, Tom worked for 9 years with BMW in Germany and UK. He gained experience in different management positions in in-house consulting, call-center management, dealer operations and IT.
Tom holds a bachelor degree in computer science from the University of Applied Science of Munich, Germany.
