Mapping a global response and building a resilient philanthropy sector in the face of COVID-19

  September 24, 2020     15:30 -  16:15

Philanthropy ecosystems have responded with different levels of scale and speed to the effects of COVID-19. While many have looked at the role of funders, grassroots organisations and the government in relief and recovery, there has been little examination of the role of philanthropy support organisations (PSOs) such as networks, research agencies, fundraising platforms or advocacy groups.

During this workshop, WINGS and Sattva will present a first-of-its-kind interactive dashboard of 250+ global responses of PSOs to the pandemic and insights on the regional differences in the nature of PSO interventions, successes and gap areas needing additional support. The presentation will be followed by a workshop to co-create recommendations to address gap areas and build upon the dashboard initiative to strengthen the narrative on the importance of a strong and coordinated philanthropy support ecosystem in times of crisis and enable increased investment in this area.
