Closing the investment and innovation gap in the humanitarian space via innovative finance

  September 22, 2020     15:30 -  16:15

The webinar will feature three senior representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Lombard Odier, and the Stone Family Foundation who will provide insights into humanitarian agendas and lessons learned from the making of world’s first humanitarian impact bond co-launched by ICRC and Lombard Odier in 2017, as well as innovative finance more generally. The speakers will discuss examples of innovative projects in design phase such as an initiative to support the transition to green sources of energy and jointly explore how a combination of public subsidies and investor capital can help a rapidly growing population of over 700,000 inhabitants of the Democratic Republic of Congo access safe drinking water. More generally, the webinar will also showcase learnings made on innovative finance and blended finance for humanitarian purposes over the past few years and assess what it takes to close innovation gaps.
