From the keynote session

Dear Participants,

So that’s a wrap of a very special edition of our Annual Conference on “Building Alliances for Impact”. This is also our last roundup where you can see what happened during the fourth day of #EVPA20. While partnerships were discussed throughout the four days, the event itself would not have been possible without a strong collaboration and active participation of session organisers, speakers, attendees, the EVPA staff and of course, last but not least, our partners.

Thank you and we hope to see you soon at our upcoming events,
The EVPA Team

Save the Date for the EVPA Annual Conference 2021

As we close the 2020 edition of our conference, we are excited to announce the dates of next year’s edition, and invite you to already save the date in your agenda:

17th EVPA Annual Conference
21-23 June 2021
Porto, Portugal

We hope to be able to organise a regular in-person conference. However, we might have to adapt the format of the event, depending on the evolution of the pandemic in the coming months, and have a hybrid format.

Recordings of #EVPA20 will be available soon

Many of you are asking when/if recordings of the sessions of this year’s conference will be available. In the coming days we will work hard to make the recordings of the keynotes and workshops available as soon as possible for all participants. We will send you an email with details on how to access them.

For those who could not attend the conference, you will be able to buy a pass to access these recordings!

We’re happy to have Pioneers Post as our media partner, the social enterprise and impact investing magazine helping you build a better world through good business. Keep an eye on PioneersPost.com in the coming weeks for coverage of our conference. Pioneers Post is itself a social enterprise, relying on subscriptions to support their impact journalism. Friends of EVPA can access a special subscription offer with a 15% discount by using code “EVPA20PP“. Their reading comes highly recommended!

From the keynote session

Alessia Gianoncelli (EVPA Head of Knowledge Centre) guided participants through a self-assessment exercise with regards to the 10 principles of the Charter of Investors for Impact. We found out that participants seem to score themselves lower on measuring and managing impact (principle 5) and on working to mobilise resources in the impact ecosystem (principle 9); while they rated themselves the highest on being highly engaged for the long term (principle 3) and on upholding high ethical standards (principle 10).

Check out our Online Fundamental Training on Venture Philanthropy and Impact Investing

As our Crash Course on Monday was sold out and some of you could not attend it, we would like to recommend our more intensive introductory course, organised in collaboration with ESADE Business School: The Online Fundamental Training on Venture Philanthropy and Impact Investing. It will take place online with access to learning material prior to two live sessions on 17 and 24 November 2020 and will focus on putting theory into practice through practical cases.

From Idriss Nor’s keynote

Every morning we give you an overview of what happened online the previous day during our 16th EVPA Annual Conference and give you a glimpse of what to expect for the afternoon.

.  .  .

Dear Participants,

Saskia Bruysten, member of the EVPA Board and Co-Founder & CEO of the Yunus Social Business, was our surprise guest at the end of Day 3 focussed on Social Entrepreneurs.  Her message was clear and many times repeated by other speakers throughout the day:  we need to form alliances, be adaptable, use local expertise, become more ambitious, think long-term to be able to react in the short-term. To learn more about one such alliance, read Saskia’s blog entitled:  “Building The COVID-19 Response Alliance for Social Entrepreneurs”.

Wishing you all a very enjoyable last day of our 16th EVPA Annual Conference!

Every morning we give you an overview of what happened online the previous day during our 16th EVPA Annual Conference and give you a glimpse of what to expect for the afternoon.

Resilience, a common thread throughout all sessions of yesterday. Resilience means holding out for the long-game, demonstrating patience, be willing to take risks and dealing with challenges as they come. Principles 3 & 4 of our Charter for Investors for Impact cover just these points and will be a focal point on Day 4. But before we dive into Day 4, let’s recap what was covered yesterday, and what to expect from today’s agenda.
